Very reasonable cost. … And that is just the opening hole! There is a bunker front left and the green is surrounded on all sides by water. One can run up a high score here although they should not, yet one can also have a very good score, particularly if you are a longer hitter. There is a bit of landing area in front of the green and to the right side as a bail-out option. No local tournaments listed for this course. The location of the club is secluded and provides a “get away from it all” type of feeling. The big hitters reach this green in two. Another pond is on the left side of the green but should not be in play. These bunkers are pretty much indestructible having survived two hurricanes and numerous floods from storms. The first hole has a long thin elevated tee box effectively not much wider than the boardwalk it resembles - I have never seen anything like it - with wetlands either side. It is not always a “strategic” course on many holes, but certainly there are enough holes requiring thoughtful decision-making. The fairway is wide so finding it should not be an issue. 5 and it has a slope rating of 138 on Bermuda grass. The views alone are enough to spend the day at Secession. A denser amount of trees line the entire left side. It is slightly wider than it looks but overall is relatively narrow so a big hitter who tries to drive the green but hits it too straight can run through the fairway. My caddy was very informative & helpful and certainly added to my experience.A stand out hole was the short 17th with an island green a third of the size of the TPC Sawgrass.
